[Co-hosted] Announcement of the Special Exhibition “Biologging Exhibition — The ‘Secret’ World Captured by Marine Creatures”

We are pleased to announce that our company has co-hosted the special exhibition “Biologging Exhibition — The ‘Secret’ World Captured by Marine Creatures” at the Shikoku Aquarium, in collaboration with the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute at the University of Tokyo, Biologging Solutions, and Little Leonardo.

■Event Overview

  • Dates: Saturday, July 12, 2025 – Sunday, August 31, 2025

  • Venue: Shikoku Aquarium, Dolphin Building 1st Floor, Lecture Room

“Biologging” is a cutting-edge research method that involves attaching small cameras or sensor-equipped devices to marine creatures such as sea turtles, penguins, and dolphins to reveal where they swim, what they eat, and how they spend their days.

■Exhibition Details

Based on data collected through bio-logging, this special exhibition features the following displays:

  • Illustrations, panels, and specimens are used to introduce the ecology of horseshoe crabs, rays, sea turtles, sharks, storm petrels, penguins, and dolphins

  • Screening of videos from the animals’ perspective (such as from the viewpoint of sea turtles and penguins)

  • Explanations of the history and evolution of bio-logging technology

■Interactive Events & Merchandise

  • Quiz Rally: Scan the QR codes throughout the venue with your smartphone. Those who answer all questions correctly will receive an “Original Card.” By scanning the QR code on the card, you can also watch exclusive videos that delve deeper into the exhibition content (July 12–August 31).

  • Fish Goshuin: Specially designed stamps featuring sea turtles and penguins are available for 300 yen on A6-sized Japanese paper (sales end 30 minutes before closing). Staff will hand-inscribe the date on the spot.

■Educational Value

Bioloking techniques are featured in elementary and junior high school textbooks, making them ideal for summer vacation science projects. Explanatory text by Professor Katsufumi Sato of the University of Tokyo is included on the exhibition panels, offering content that satisfies the scientific curiosity of both parents and children.

A Message from Our Company

We are actively involved in initiatives to deepen understanding of animal behavior and the environment, and to share new discoveries with the world. We are delighted to use the advanced technology of biologging to visualize the “invisible world” and provide an opportunity, especially for children, to learn about “life in the ocean” while having fun.

We invite you to visit the Shikoku Aquarium with your family and friends this summer vacation to experience this special exhibition.
